the third batapata internation artists workshop was held from the 21st to the 31st of august 2005 at the lake chivero lodges some 35km from harare. 14 artists from 6 different countries participated in this 10 day workshop. the artists from botswana, kenya, namibia, south africa, zambia and zimbabwe worked together on an equal footing to produce artworks on the theme "beyond freedom".
this workshop was made possible by the invaluable support of the ford foundation, hivos, norad, national arts council and a collaborative effort between batapata and the national gallery of zimbabwe. a public open day was organised at the site followed by an exhibition at the national gallery of zimbabwe.
