We ask artists to arrive in Cape Town one day prior to the workshop,
on 1 December. Budget accommodation for the duration of the workshop
will be provided at Cape Town
Deco Lodge .
Accommodation at Cape Town Deco Lodge will be booked and paid for by
Thupelo. Should artists arrive before 1 December, they would need to
cover the cost of the extra days. We will also cover the booking and
cost of accommodation for the night of 17 December (by arrangement).
Should artists wish to stay on longer, they will be responsible for
their own arrangements and costs.
The workshop will be held at the Arts and Media
Access Centre (AMAC) in Cape Town. Transport from Cape Town Deco
Lodge to AMAC will be provided on a daily basis.
On the evening of 1 December, before starting the workshop, we will
all eat dinner and assemble at Cape Town Deco Lodge, where the committee
will introduce and discuss the workshop. Participants who may have any
further queries can discuss them then. We will then begin to set up
the working space on the morning of 2 December so that participants
could start work immediately.
The following fourteen days (2 to 16 December) will be dedicated to
serious art making. During this period we will have a walkabout where
artists will share their voyage on the workshop with other participants.
Each evening a different duo of artists participating in the workshop
will give a slide show/talk to the group.
Participating artists will all actively be involved in setting up their
space for the open studio day on 16 December, which will end in a party
to close the workshop. We will spend the following day packing up and
leaving the venue and accommodation in the way we found it.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for the entire duration
of the workshop. Should you have any special dietary requirements, please
include this information in your application form.
