THUPELO: TO TEACH BY EXAMPLE
In a society which
has been divided on so many levels, where self-assertion and motivation
has not been encouraged, much work has to be done on an inter-personal
and group level to correct the imbalances of the past.
As concerned South Africans, we in Thupelo in our daily lives as artists,
make it our task to assist fellow artists to experience the culture
of unity in action. We encourage self-expression and self-motivation
to enhance self-worth.
The interaction by artists that occurs at our workshops should happen
on a much wider scale; image making can break down myths and assumptions
that inhibit our society.
We have organized Regional, National and International workshops, and
continue to do so.
