Agnes mumbi Lubumbashi
ZAMBIA
AGY developed a style within the course of the workshop, she assumed a different role for her self in determining the direction of her painting. Her first international artists workshop experience was in the last of Mbile workshops in 1999. Hieroglyphically designed background of symbols , and two silhouette figures of African woman. The title Tobwa is derived from a traditional root drink, which the women are carrying in the clay pots. There was a mistaken reaction on another work of Agnes, which to many appeared to be a tiger in abstract, but NO, they were dry leaves which gave inspiration to do it. Agnes manifested the other talent of dancing, she knows the movements for Zambian kalindula music much to the admiration of visiting artists.
