DORIS Kamupria
ZIMBABWE
DORIS came as print maker and metal sculptor from Zimbabwe, and went back home as a painter and wood sculptor, because of interaction. All this happened as a true reflection of Insakartists 2003 tradition, to enrich each other through diverse disciplines. She says thanks to Nezias Nyirenda, who inspired her to take up wood carving , much further than she thought. His simplified approach made her solid composition much easy to finish a big wood in a number of days. Doris's energetic sense towards sculpture and the anguish of her strong brush strokes like in a painting she entitled freedom of speech shows how ambitious and skilled she is by carefully choosing her simple yet effective finishing touch. Her most cherished work was the 'Budding Nyami Nyami' , the big wood standing on the beach.
