GEOFFREY PHIRI
ZAMBIA

GEOFF is a graduate from the Imiti Ikula cauldron ( the up coming artist weekend workshop series of 1994 to 1996 ) now a versatile palette knife fine painter, drew his inspiration from the workshop surroundings of Eagles Rest's Lake View, yet his compositions were social themes such as daily routine and home alone , he develops his work from using a blank canvas as a palette to build another painting, his first reaction was to play the anatomical concept of dry folded leaves, he brought them to human life impression of women waiting and standing, on the taxi rank. Making friends during the workshop was what Geoffrey would hope that such ventures continue, expect to invite the same artists even next year. He says , "at least I made friends one or more, adding several to my diary, it has been a wonderful experience". He worked so hard as a participant and organizer at once, such was the committed spirit of Insaka Organising Committee member, he did the lay out on the Insakartists 2003 catalogue.
