Nezias Nyirenda
ZAMBIA
NEZIAS from 'neziland' and former Rockston Studio 1985 apprentice, Ngoma Awards three time nominee, with his social conscious functional art such as resting place, his dynamic exploration in wood was inspirational to fellow sculptors and set the working pace by coming up with challenging art pieces in wood. He contributed by assisting other artists in the workshop by providing expertise on how handle power tools and to work on wood. Nezi spiced the workshop with his creative performance in the restaurant when he posed as one of the Eagles Rest waiters much to amusement of Eagles Rest owner and artists , he caused unforgettable laughter. Traditional attire is one the most thought soothing piece , the wood was worked on by natural weathering of Lake Kariba, insect eating effect and Nezi added the glamorous 'neziland' touch to it.
" I enjoyed the workshop , it was nice , I made friends, I learnt a lot from interacting with other people and very motivating".
