Beatrice njoki kimemia - ngecha artists studio

Was born and brought up in Ngecha village, Limuru. She works and lives in Ngecha village. Bema's painting is affected using serene greens, blues and yellows. Love is power, and is sometimes represented by bold red hearts. Women sit on the centre of her canvases, all activity revolving around their efforts. Love lubricates relationships, and women color their activity with love. Love is a shield, manifesting itself as hospitality: visitors must eat, drink and be nourished. Then people will progress.

'I use faces a lot. For me faces carry the entire composition. I like for my paintings to tell a story. For instance the story of how we are connected through love.'
Statement that the power held by the woman is often hidden behind her facades; that such powers, operating at full throttle will influence everything around the woman. The price the woman has to pay is the loss of her constructed façade; the benefit is implied by an absence: That the negative aspects of the influence of men in society will be neutered if women use all their resources to counter it.
