Caroline Njeri

Njeri was born and educated in Meru district in Eastern province of Kenya. She creates her work using natural plant fibers.

Njeri believes only in working with the natural hues that banana fiber offers. Most of her paintings are landscapes which are investigations of varied themes from environmental issues to social comment.

'Women in the past have been through many difficulties. They have been prevented from doing their work, expressing themselves, doing business and working freely.

My father works with banana fibers. I was always by his side while he did his work and I got inspired by him. I like nature the way it is, so I limit my colors to the colors of banana fiber.'
