About pARTage

‘partage’ is a French word which means sharing. The name already illustrates our mission which is to share through art: ‘Partage’ of culture, ideas, knowledge, techniques, skills and personal experiences.

pARTage is a visual arts non-profit organization affiliated to the Triangle Arts Trust (a network of artist-led organizations present in more than 20 countries around the world).

pARTage’s launch in Mauritius in 2003 resulted from an idea shared by a group of eight artists (Nalini Treebobhun, Mala Ramyead, Hans Ramduth, Neermala Luckeenarain, Nirmal Hurry, Gerard Foy, Manjoola Appadoo and Krishna Luchoomun) - to establish a substantially structured and organized framework within which contemporary visions of art could be impressed upon our small, insular state. The initial idea of setting up such an art organization cropped up following a meeting in 2000 between Robert Loder and Krishna Luchoomun. The Triangle model was deemed an alluring vision. The first international workshop was organized in 2004 and ever since pARTage regularly organizers both local and international workshops and residencies.

pARTage today reflects the pioneering spirit of some highly dynamic local artists and characterizes the upbeat and changing face of the local art scene.
