pARTaz 2004

The 1st International pARTage Artist workshop took place at Flic en Flac, Mauritius from the 1st to the 15th July 2004. The response to the invitation for application for this workshop was enormous, and in itself started to predict the momentum that this unique exchange scheme was going to generate.
The international participating artists were from Zimbabwe, Rodrigues Island, United Kingdom, Pakistan, France, Seychelles, India, Comoro Islands, Australia, Holland, South Africa, Madagascar, Kenya and China. Ten artists from Mauritius joined the group to create an unprecedented arena of artistic exchange, debate, sharing, learning, and creativity that has marked our island’s artistic profile and reshaped its future and standing within the Indian Ocean and within the larger international artistic community.
