tulipamwe namibia

Tulipamwe Namibia is part of the Triangle Network of workshops initiated by Sir Robert Loder and is organised under the auspices of the Tulipamwe Trust.

These workshops have played a significant role in raising the standard and awareness of the visual arts in each of the countries where they have been established. The dynamic workshop phenomenon continues to sprout additional new workshops each year.

The first Tulipamwe Workshop was held in 1994 and has since become a much anticipated annual event on the Namibian cultural calendar.

The workshop is a unique occasion for the sharing of ideas between artists from Namibia, the region, rest of Africa and other parts of the world. It places participants in a global situation where skills, techniques and aspects of different cultures are exchanged. Tulipamwe also provides a forum for critical discourse and discussion on various issues surrounding the creative process and production.

The real success of the workshop lies in the effect it has had and continues to have on the personal and professional development of participating artists. The invigorating learning and sharing environment that is created by the workshop, has provided opportunities for continuing education, networking and further business and income generating possibilities for numerous artists.

Tulipamwe Namibia is an annually funded event comprising the international artists' workshop, which is followed by an exhibition and a community workshop for Namibian artists.
