Tulipamwe
Namibia is an independent
anually funded project.
Administration and coordination is facilitated through the Tulipamwe
Trust with logistical support from the Visual Arts Department of
the University of Namibia. The workshop is endorsed by the Ministry
of Basic Education and Culture as well as the National Art Gallery
of Namibia.
This
unique and valuable project depends entirely on the support of donors
and sponsors to ensure its success and to maintain its important
role in the stimulus of national and regional cultural development.
Since
its inception in 1994, Tulipamwe Namibia has attracted a growing
body of committed long-term partners and donors. These include both
the public and private sectors as well as foreign aid agencies.
Some
of these have recently extended their contributions to include funding
for the annual exhibition, the community workshops as well as exchange
programmes in the region and abroad.
The
Open Day held at the end of the workshop affords an opportunity
for sponsors and others to meet and talk to the artists in their
studios or in situ to view the work created over the two
week period.
Donors
are presented with an artwork in recognition of their sponsorship.
